Thrivent Action Team Project: “Blackduck Area Toys for Kids”
Anderson Fabrics has a box for donations for kids in need of gifts this Christmas season. They usually pick up the box around December 10th. Erica Naughton heads this up. She said they are always in need of Scarves, Makeup bags, Hats and Mittens as well as toys. Usually where they are short is Newborn and 10–15yr olds. As we were talking I suggested using cuddle to make infinity scarves and the ascot scarves. I used to use Thrivent dollars for my FCCLA students when I was teaching, I thought why not do a project for this! I wrote an action team grant for us to make scarves. Here is where YOU come in… Can you come help sew on Thursday, November 17th and make infinity & ascot scarves. We will use the action funds to buy the cuddle and donate the scarves to the Toys for Kids. If you can’t help, but would like to help us make MORE your donation towards the fabric could make many more. The action team funds will cover 15 infinity scarves and 10 ascot scarves. Check our web page for a Thrivent offer: buy 2 yds of Lux Cuddle and get three infinity scarves or 2 ascot scarves sewn for you. The other yd will be donated to the Toys for kids box.
Bemidji Veterans Home: Last spring our Charm Club in store members made blocks that we put into a quilt for the Veterans home due to open soon in Bemidji. We donated that quilt last month. Pictured here… The Bemidji Veterans Home is a 72 bed facility. We found out that the quilts (twin sized 70 x 90”) will stay with the veteran/family. They will continue to need quilts as they continue to grow. Currently, they have 50 quilts and anticipate needing more in the future. The contact person for quilt donation is Val Ahrens 218.214.1147
