Anderson Fabrics April 2025 Newsletter
To all our loyal customers
As many of you may already be aware it was announced last month that The Shade Store will be ceasing production operations here in Blackduck at the end of April. This includes the “Anderson Quilt Shop”. Due to this announcement, we will not be accepting any new orders for quilts. We will continue to deliver on orders already in-house and will ensure those are completed prior to April 30th.
Our parent company has expressed an interest in allowing the quilt shop to continue operation under new ownership if they are able to find a buyer for the business. We will keep you all updated as the future of our shop becomes clearer in the coming months. In the meantime, please continue to stop by for all your quilting needs and we remain optimistic that we will be able to continue to serve you after the divestment by our current owners.
Thank you for all your patronage over the years, we are hopeful for more years to come.
The quilt shop team
We have had so many of our customers call or stop by with regrets of the store closing. Your support has been overwhelming. I told someone we have been going through the 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. We are in between the two stages of bargaining and acceptance right now. I wish we had good news for this newsletter. But as of this week, we have inquiry’s but no buyers, YET, but we are still HOPEFUL! With that we still move on as if someone will come in and swoop us up!
In the meantime, our outlet fabric is a steal! Upstairs outlet (drapery) fabric is $1 a yard and in the basement the drapery fabric is by the bolt and it is 75% off. Come and clean us out!
ALSO Our hours are back to normal, we are here 9- 5pm. M-F Saturdays 10-3pm.
We are ready for the All Minnesota Shop Hop. The shop hop starts Tuesday, April 1st. Check our website in the AMNSH folder of our Shop page for fabrics. Magazines are available online and in the store. There is even a little hopper mascot you need to find and enter to win a prize. Mary posted a picture of this on our facebook page on Monday. This is the shop hop to follow on Facebook as they work hard to get prizes and give out prizes to those who follow them on facebook. You can win prizes by going to just a few regions. Check them out on their website : https://minnesotashophop.com/
Charm Club:
Charm Club meets the second Tuesday of Each month. April 8th is our next meeting. If you watch us online, you can get 20% off one time purchase the week of the club. Code is told during the FB Live. See new fabrics; We will have a free project for the month. Check us out on Facebook. “Anderson Fabrics Outlet and Quilt Shop”. Come and join the fun.
For those coming to the shop for club at 6PM; we are doing a LIGHT BLUE Fat quarter drawing this month. Bring a fat quarter in the Light blue tones and put your name in the pot, one lucky winner will get them all. Clare won the Green fat quarters last month.
We hope we will be able to have a charm club in the future, we will try to meet in a different location in May. Watch the facebook page for details. We will probably turn the facebook page to “Friends of Anderson Fabrics”, but we remain hopeful that a buyer will be found for the shop.

From our Customers:
Mary Settle and I were talking in the store and she had made a jingle dress in 1966 and didn’t have a use for it. I told her I would love to have it displayed in the store. Here is the story of the dress: The Reader’s Digest had a grant that they received to start a Brownie troop in the Red Lake area. Their girl scout troop of 20+ girls took turns every Saturday to work with the troop for a year. They planned to go to the International Girl Scout camp in Mexico the next year and they had to create a project from their region, so they decided to make a jingle dress that would represent the area of the country they were from. Four girls of the 17 that attended the camp made dresses and also had to learn the dance. With all the people in the area making jingle dresses, what a great opportunity for us to have this in the shop.
