A Note From the Shop

Wow! February just flew by, Spring is just around the corner, but we are embracing the last days of winter up north!

We will be celebrating our Grand Opening March 31st -April 11th. There will be drawings for prizes and fun surprises. Plan to visit the shop!

We are a month away from the ALL MINNESOTA SHOP HOP. Magazines are HERE! The Magazines are your passport to the Shop Hop and contain the map of all participating shops and exclusive patterns designed by Minnesota shops. Magazines are $13.95

Dates for the shop hop are April and May 2026.

We plan to have a special guest at the FACEBOOK LIVE at 4pm. Marilyn Lee is from the area and has designed fabric for Blank Fabrics. We will have her Homestead fabric in April. (just in time for shop hop) She plans to have some samples of her new line of fabric. Her write up for the Blank website is below:

I live in a small cabin in far northern wilderness of Minnesota where I am surrounded by, and inspired by, the beauty of nature in all of her many forms. Each of the four seasons display their own beauty in a myriad of unique and different ways. My love of nature has given me endless opportunities to design and create art, in one form or another, and I am always looking for new creative challenges.

I believe I was sewing nearly before I could walk learning on a vintage treadle sewing machine. I have a special love of these vintage machines to this day and I create free motion thread paintings and art quilts using them. As a child I would sit under a big old oak tree and sew bonnets and dresses for the frogs that I would catch. In 2004 I received a Guinness World Book record for the largest rag doll in the world. A 13 foot tall life like Paul Bunyan. I teach online art quilting and free motion embroidery using vintage treadle sewing machines.

BUS TRIP???? We had an interested caller ask if we were going to host a bus trip to the Quilt show this year. We are wondering if there is interest to do this again. We did this the last time they were in St. Cloud. They haven’t put any information about bus trips pricing, but we have called and it should be set up soon.

Block Exchange - We presented another block exchange idea in January. Anyone can participate and get a chance to win the blocks. It is a two color block. White on white and another color of your choice. Look for the pattern at the end of the newsletter. We will collect and draw for a winner March 10th at the club meeting.

Beginner Quilting Class

Saturday March 14th, 2026

10 AM - 3 PM

Cost of Class: $50.00

( includes Quilt Kit)

The Class will cover the basics of quilting including how to use a ruler and rotary cutter Sewing, pressing and laying out a quilt. This is a very easy and fun pattern to learn with. Maybe a fun Mother / Daughter project also!

Bring lunch or lunch can be ordered from the local Cafe.

Bring your own sewing machine, cutting mat, rotary cutter, ruler, thread, etc.

There will be a 20% discount offered on any supplies purchased the day of the class.

Pre-cuts are available NOW!

We worked with the Nebish Northstars 4H group again in February. They made ascot cuddle scarves and are planning on making tiered skirts in March. They worked with a Thrivent Action Team grant to help pay for the supplies. We are working to help kids learn to sew the best we can.
